TORONTO — Police say a man has died after being stabbed in the neck at a west-end Toronto mosque.
The force’s homicide unit is investigating after officers responded to a call around 8:40 p.m. Saturday.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene outside the International Muslim Organization of Toronto in Etobicoke.
Police say the suspect, described as a slim male wearing a black hoodie, fled on foot.
The National Council of Canadian Muslims issued a statement on behalf of the organization, which says the victim was a member.
The organization says it’s “deeply saddened and shocked” by what happened, and urges members of the community not to speculate.
“Instead, we ask that you keep our brother and his family in your prayers,” the organization’s statement said.
